What is Civil Service?

Civil Service is the permanent structure responsible for carrying out the administration of the country. This service runs under the direction and control of ‘elected representatives of the people and in accordance with the rules and principles. In India, the civil service system is an executive branch of the Republic of India and functions as the backbone of the administrative machinery of the country. The primary function of the Civil Service is to implement policies and deliver services.

Civil Services Examination (CSE)

Though popularly known as the ‘IAS exam’, the official name of the exam is UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE). There are many who consider this exam as the toughest exam in India (and even on the world stage!). UPSC CSE will be conducted in 3 phases: 1) Prelims and 2) Mains 3) Interview.
